What is a federal job search agent?
A job search agent is a software program which automatically performs a search for one of our customers and generates an email message when a match exists between federal jobs and a customer's profile.

How does a search agent save me time?
The typical internet user could spend hours search for jobs each day. Search engines can lead us down numerous different paths, with varied results. A job search agent will run the exact same search according to the criteria you enter, and will not miss a match. All you need to worry about is what kind of position you are looking for and where - the job search agent does the rest.

What does the premium service give me that the free service does not?
The premium email subscription offers our customers the complete package of information necessary to apply for a position of interest. The Free Job Alert service will send you the titles, salaries and locations of positions, as well as lead you to the federal agency, but the premium service saves you more time by providing links to contact information, application instructions and complete job descriptions.

Additionally, premium email subscribers receive advanced search capability which allows them to narrow their search by city, county or region instead of an entire state.

When should I expect to see results?
The day after you create your search engine you should see results, if your profile generates any matches. As you create your profile, you can test to make sure that there will be some matches by using the Search Now link from the profile edit page. It is a good idea to make sure there are matches to your profile, immediately after it is created.

About my search profile...
How can I change my profile?
You can edit your profile at any time by clicking on the link in your email job search alert messages, or by going to our home page and entering your email address. Once you are logged in you can add/delete search locations, keywords and job titles from your search profile.

How often can I expect search results?
That very much depends on how broad your search profile is. We highly recommend that you take the time to browse the existing openings in our database by state to give you an idea of the types of openings you might expect in a given location. Because we do not control the flow of jobs in the government, we cannot guarantee your profile will receive matches.

I signed up but have not received any jobs. What could be the problem?
If you do not receive an email after signing up, there could be two possible reasons: 1) Check your email address. 2) Your profile is too narrow to generate any matches. Edit your profile and add locations, keywords and job titles to broaden your search criteria. Use the state browsing pages as a guideline.

How can I change my email address?
Just click on the link in your emails to edit your profile, or login at our home page to access your account. You can change your email address at any time - but double check that it is correct!

Should I forward my resume to Federaljobsearch?
NO. We do not handle the hiring process. Our service centers around alerting our customers to job matches and providing the contact information to our subscribers to apply for the position. Each federal agency handles its own hiring process. Again, do not send your resume to us - send it to the appropriate government agency.

Will Federaljobsearch protect my privacy?
Absolutely. We do not share customer information with any other parties or use your email address for any other purpose except sending matches to your job search profile. See our privacy policy.
