| General Search Help
|
| Your search profile is made up of three basic components: Location, Job Title and Minimum Salary.
Keyword searches are also available to search the database online, and to help to select the titles for
your search, but email job matches are sent based on location,keyword and minimum salary, and not keyword.

| We have provided several different mechanisms for searching the database. Our basic search tab allows
you to search online based on location,title and keyword. Our advanced search tab also allows you to search
using minimum salary

| Location
|
| Search locations are grouped according to the federal government's mapping system. Each U.S. state and the major
territories are represented as well as overseas locations. U.S. states are broken down into smaller units which
may correspond to cities, counties or other regions within a state. For overseas locations, such as "Overseas Atlantic",
the group is broken down according to country (such as England, France, Germany, etc.). You can select an entire region
or state, or select only individual cities, counties or regions within that region for your search.

| Career Fields
|
| At the highest level, Federal Job Search listings are organized by career field, such as 'Accounting, Budget and Finance'.
Each career field is made up of multiple federal job titles (or series). For example the Accounting career field is made up of 25 job titles, such as 'Budget Analyst', 'Financial Administrator',etc.
You can select an entire career field or choose individual job titles only for your search. When you first create your
profile you are given the opportunity to select the titles which interest you. Once your profile is created, you can modify your job titles at any time
from the 'My Job Titles' tab on the basic or advanced search tab. You can also reach this from your main menu ('my menu'), by clicking on the 'my search' tab.

| Minimum Salary
|
| You can select a minimum salary for your search profile to help to filter out positions which
do not interest you. A small fraction of federal positions in our database do not have a reported
salary, so those positions are not filtered out by salary and would be included in any search which
matches your locations and job titles, regardless of your minimum salary.
