The VAMC in Memphis, TN consists of one main campus located at 1030 Jefferson Avenue, which includes a 60-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit, and nine community based outpatient clinics CBOC).
This position is located in the Engineering Service of the VA Medical Center in Memphis, TN and is assigned to the operations, maintenance and repair of the Air Conditioning Equipment.Major duties include, but not limited to:
·Troubleshoots equipment and has considerable capability for making repairs to major components.
·Carries out all skills, operations, and operational maintenance of conventional centralized, multi-zone air conditioning plants.
·Determines the nature and extent of repairs or adjustments needed and detect and locate malfunctions in the more advanced and complex air conditioning systems, including their controls.
·Analyzes meters and gage recordings, anticipate potential trouble and take precautionary operator maintenance measures.
·Evaluates performance of all equipment and adequacy of major repairs, test repaired equipment, and makes most precise adjustments required to balance the systems.Would be able to direct or instruct less knowledgeable operators.
·Demonstrates good knowledge of safety valves and automatic safety devices for low-temperature cutout and high-pressure cutout.
·Balances air conditioning systems by making mechanical or electrical adjustment to equipment such as electronic and pneumatic controls using schematic drawings and testing equipment;computes required BTU's and checks with output of system.
·Uses unit analyzers, air velocity-meters, psychometric, tachometers, micrometers, calipers, gages, etc., and instructs others in their use and setup.
·Instructs or guide others in the interpretation of complicated and/or technical information, blueprints, etc.·Uses all required safety equipment, clothing, and precautions to protect self and others.
