There are 2 open vacancies. One is located at the Wausau Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) and one at the Tomah VA Medical Center. As a Staff Psychiatrist, the incumbent diagnoses mental disorders, medication evaluation, and management, conducts psychiatric assessments, treats mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provides adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. The incumbent consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.

The Psychiatrist applies advanced professional psychiatric diagnostic methods and evidence-based interventions strategies to a full range of patient problems in this work setting.The primary job functions include the provision of direct psychiatric patient care, medication evaluation and management, and consultation services on difficult or complex cases.
The incumbent interacts and works with clinicians from other clinical Services, as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.The incumbent is skillful in interpersonal relationships, including conflict resolution and has the ability to work collaboratively with staff from other professions and Services.Incumbent will attend regular staff meetings of the Mental Health Service as assigned and those relevant meetings/activities of Tomah VAMC.As a fully licensed Psychiatrist, the incumbent determines patients' needs for psychiatric evaluation, specialized evaluation procedures, diagnostic procedures, medication evaluation and management, individual psychotherapy, and specialized psychiatric techniques.In addition to basic clinical duties associated with the position, the incumbent performs consultations to other units of the medical center (e.g., General Medicine, Nursing Home Care, inpatient psychiatric units, and the residential treatment programs, etc.).The incumbent is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the VAMC for Veterans to whom the incumbent provides services.The Psychiatrist will perform all other duties assigned by either their Section Manager or Service Chief, even though they may not be outlined above, as long as he or she can do so without violating ethical standards and are approved, credentialed and privileged by the ECMS.
