As a Sheet Metal Mechanic Leader your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Joining, assembling and installing systems such as: heating, air conditioning or ventilation ducting, bulkheads, metal furniture and control surfaces to complete sheet metal assignments.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches or drawings and specifications to ensure work is done in accordance with standard procedures.
- Applying trade theory and practices in assembly, disassembly, re-assembly and repair of sheet metal components.
- Utilizing tools or equipment such as: punches, drills, chisels, hammers, mallets, metal snips, pneumatic riveters, slip roll forming machines, box and pan brakes, power squaring shears, band saw and spot welder.
- Planning of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools to accomplish work.
- Must be a US Citizen.

- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Requirements:Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final confidential security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. May be assigned to work areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to, fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, etc. To ensure employee safety and health, the Shipyard maintains personnel protective programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations. These programs may include engineering controls, and medical surveillance. As part of medical surveillance programs, the selectee may be required to take medical examinations to assess his/her medical qualification for duty involving work with these agents.. Selectee is responsible for following safe work practices, including the use of appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE). Selectee is required to perform his/her duties with the highest level of attention to safety and health and will take the initiative to make the work area safe for themselves as well as those around them. Selectee is required to notify his/her supervisor as soon as possible of items he/she is unable to correct.
